New Directions College is working in partnership with DWP, Brighter Futures for Children and Reading Children Centres to boost access to careers in the Early Years and Childcare sector and support people who are out of work with gaining employment.
This is a comprehensive training and work experience initiative designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in the Early Years sector.
If you are passionate about working with young children and looking to gain practical experience and qualifications to enhance your job prospects, this programme is for you.
Content for the course:
Introduction to the Early Years Foundation Stage; including the prime and specific areas of learning and the characteristics of effective learning
Commitment to working with children
Safeguarding children and Equality and Diversity
Supporting children’s learning and play- how this fits into the wider curriculum
Health and Safety in the Early Years environment
Parent partnership, including English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Supporting children’s Communication and Language Development
Introduction to the four broad areas of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Nutrition and Food Safety for children
Food Hygiene L2
Introduction to Basic Digital and IT Skills
Interview skills, CV writing and knowing how to apply for a job
You must be unemployed and receiving benefits such, as Universal Credit, and committed to completing the full duration of the programme.
From Monday 6th January 2025 to Friday 14th Feb 2025, up to 2 days organised work experience, plus 3 mornings a week classroom learning.
Classroom sessions are from 9:30 to 12:30
